lyrics

(lyrics by Michael Addison Mersereau )
--
The pause of the arteries
Beat out fresh clots speeding.

Past flickers of shock
We take cover in windows.

Hear gleeful black dots
At cathartic tinsel parties

Wait my dear in cracked glass

Between checks and artillery
Between work and image

In our fast of spring
I heard the terrible sound
Of my own self returning.

Upon th terrible sound
Of my own self returning,
We make merry the fever
The flat earth revisits

To touch a glum spourt
With the temperature garden
Hidden in pages
Of bestiaries for sailors

In the slow monster sleep
Cradle rock cradle

Grip callous stone hands
In the lullaby named
The glass wind our skin shatters

"Where will you be then?"
She asks.
No, it's where I begun
Somber dog of the bar
Swaying our coach
To tip all roads east
Rusting train rails
To the palms' time of victory.

With a driver like Thomas
Down our doubtful stone path,
Between the grey and the grey
Screamed the Magdalene rose.

There are pressed hands to ears
Hearing crippled knees clamor
With staph, an infecton
I raised white surrender
To the terrible sound
Of my own self returning.

These flooded Decembers
relentless with thread
The arm cuddled child
In the blanket of man
Fair weather frames solitude
Where bodies are shaking.
A devil, a coffee, and smoked cigarettes
Puff and dissolve around the paradise 'wearies"
Returned and returning
To the bored sleep of promise

In the curve of the kettle
Our stove top gas flames
Their red sails raise silent
In the dark of your sleep

We've been watched by them
Shimmying,
On wailing ovals
Exhausted and deaf
Begging clocks still

To glimpse secret codes
They vary, we know
While we tread clumsy tows
That seat one returning.

In this pulling parade
Israel waits for everyone
In atonal resonance
Vespers chime twilight

And he, by prayer, confused,
Will play piano

Psalms,
Of hallow branches against atrophy
Wishing clocks still,
And a poet, PERIOD!
